Life is Shifting

Wow – as I looked at my last post I realized it has actually been 4 years since I have connected to writing my little blog. Perhaps I was feeling a little stuck with nothing exciting or inspiring to write about? Or maybe I just plain got out of the habit of sitting down to share my thoughts. Either way, it is time to begin again.

Life has certainly begun shifting forward for me over the last few months. In June I celebrated 10 Years Cancer Free! Yes – 10 years!!! It’s a milestone not celebrated by nearly enough and over that time I have lost some incredible women that didn’t get to celebrate – I carry their spirit and strength forward with me. To continue to support my health I have returned working with a personal trainer a little over 1.5 years ago and have gained strength (working to keep those bones healthy as I “ripen” through the years) and endurance. It has encouraged me to focus on some better decisions and finding the joy again in being active and getting out for some steps and connect to some fresh air.

And now, a connection over the years has resulted in the newest change of all – a position with a new company begins tomorrow to work directly with people and hopefully make a positive impact on how they work together to achieve common goals. The details don’t matter here, but just know that this is something that I had a taste of in 2019/2020 and am excited to be able to make it my day to day. But even with my excitement over this opportunity (and knowing it will involve working with more great people) I am honestly fighting the blues today.

Stress can be good. Change can be good. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t difficult. I worked with my previous company for over 23 years in total – they truly became like family and I have spent much more time with many of them than with my own family. While I know that connections will remain strong with some of them I will still miss connecting with them on a mostly daily basis….and that is okay. It feels somewhat like a goodbye but I know that time will help the change in the dynamic. One of the things I will miss is the “youngin’s” keeping me in touch with what is new and “hip”.

My daily coworkers for this new position, working from home regularly, won’t exactly be someone I can hand things off to, keep me up to speed with the upcoming generations, and will most likely just expect me to serve them (picture of one below), however they will I am sure keep me entertained in their own way. There will be some travel and colocation for meetings and work so it will likely be a good mix of being able to focus and being able to be connected to people in person. That said though, I know that I will also need to be intentional in connecting with people outside of my office day. If you have creative ideas of how to do that please share.

With love,

Glenna
